Thom Yorke shared another remix of the late MF DOOM’s Born Like This track “Gazzillion Ear”. The “Man on Fire Remix” is part of Lex.XX, the remix series from Lex Records, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the London label. He remixed the track – originally produced by J Dilla – in 2009 as an additional iTunes bonus track for Born Like This. He teased this new remix back in 2016 when he co-hosted Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show. Check out Gazzillion Ear [Thom Yorke Man on Fire Remix]” among.

Lex Records shared a collaboration statement:

“Daniel Dumile (RIP) was one of Lex’s most prolific artists, releasing three studio albums as a lead singer and one as a beat maker. We spent a lot of time with him in the 2010s. He will always be missing.
J Dilla and MF DOOM only did a handful of tracks together. The best was ‘Gazzillion Ear’ which was built around a massive Giorgio Moroder sample.
Thom Yorke remixed the track twice. The first version was originally released simply as the ‘Thom Yorke Remix’, but he nicknamed it the ‘Monkey Hustle Remix’ to distinguish it from the ‘Man On Fire Remix’ that came out 12 years after Thom’s debut release.
The ‘Man On Fire Remix’ is a searing crack the first time it is heard, but in this dense mass of noisy sirens there is a lurching, twitching funk track that becomes clearer with each repetition. “

MF DOOM died in October 2020; his wife announced his death on New Year’s Eve months later. Several collaborations have since been released posthumously, including tracks with Your Old Droog and IDK, Westside Gunn and Jay Electronica, a remix from the Avalanches, and a full collaboration LP with Czarface. Yorke recently debuted The Smile, a new band with Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner, in Glastonbury.
