cherry follows the wild journey of a disenfranchised young man from Ohio who meets the love of his life only to risk losing it through a series of bad choices and challenging life circumstances. Inspired by the bestseller of the same name by Nico Walker, cherry shows Tom Holland in the title role as a carefree figure who has dropped out of studies to serve in Iraq as a medic in the army and is only anchored by his one true love, Emily (Ciara Bravo). When Cherry returns home a war hero, he battles the demons of undiagnosed PTSD and coils of drug addiction, and surrounds himself with a menagerie of depraved outsiders. Cherry empties his finances and turns to bank robbery to fund his addiction. His relationship with Emily is destroyed. Brought to screen in bold, grainy ways by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo. cherry is a darkly humorous, unshakable coming-of-age story of a man on a universal quest for purpose and human connection.
