Future Islands played a so-called “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” in the latest episode of the popular NPR series. In truth, the four-song set didn’t take place at a desk or in anyone’s home. The trio instead gathered near the apartment in Baltimore’s Carroll Baldwin Memorial Hall, where they were thrown back by a redundant stage and drum kit. Watch them play Hit the Coast, The Painter, Thrill, and Balance below.
Three of the four tracks appear on the band’s newest album, As Long As You Are. “Balance” dates back to 2011 on the water. Since As Long As You Are released in October, Future Islands have played with Seth Meyers and Colbert and remixed Matt Berninger’s “One More Second”.
