HER helped open the Super Bowl 2021 show, where she performed “America the Beautiful” prior to the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Her performance, which preceded Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church, who sang the national anthem, was interrupted by a huge guitar solo. Watch it below.
Before today’s game, HER ET said she was looking forward to the performance. “It’s a huge stage and it’s not getting any bigger, you know? But I think the goal is for me to do it [the song] my own, ”she said. “I’m a huge fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful’, but I really want to bring in different elements … make it YOURS”
HER was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her song “Fight for You”, which starred in the new Shaka King film Judas and the Black Messiah. Today’s Super Bowl also opened with Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church singing the national anthem. The Weeknd delivered the halftime performance later that night.
