Written and directed by Steven Kostanski, the film tells the story of a young sister and brother who unwittingly revive an ancient alien overlord. The film picks up on the nostalgia of the late 80s and early 90s by combining kid-friendly adventures with outstanding practical effects. Goreman cleverly combines the horror and fantasy genres with a healthy dose of neon-soaked visuals. The film is incredibly unique and familiar with comparisons of classics like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Gatewho have favourited 90s live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movies, Power Rangers and Master of the Universe.
The siblings Mimi (Nita-Josee Hanna) and Luke (Owen Myer) couldn’t be closer. They spend almost every waking moment together, getting muddy and playing their made-up game “Crazy Ball”. It probably helps that Mimi is bossy and dominant. The fearless tomboy rolls almost every family member with his assertive personality, especially Papa Greg (Astron 6 member Adam Brooks). During a particularly grueling game of Crazy Ball in the backyard, the siblings discover a strange gem that awakens an evil intergalactic conqueror. The being the PG: Psycho Goreman siblings call eager to assemble his former team of evildoers and continue their path of destruction as the benevolent rulers who locked him up in the first place try to stop him once and for all.
Blitz // Berlin’s soundtrack is a wild, thematic ride that includes introductory narratives, bombastic orchestral voices, lush synth waves, pop-rock power ballads with big hair from the 80s, distorted guitars, and enormous percussion.
