Greg Staples is known for his work on British comics 2000AD and artwork for Magic the Gathering and here’s what he had to say about the release …

“For me, the classic Universal Monster movies have been ingrained in me since I was a kid, not just because of their iconic visual design and makeup, but because they’re almost out of this world.” said Staples. “For me they are the purest form of escapism and something that is simply no longer possible these days. I decided to approach these illustrations a little differently, trying to add a bit of realism to hopefully capture a small part of their character that was so beautifully portrayed by Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. It was really an honor. “

In close collaboration with Universal and the Bela Lugosi estate, this officially licensed series begins with pieces for Dracula and Frankenstein and show Greg’s amazing paintings that Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff beautifully capture in their iconic roles. Both versions of the art are in a regular film poster in an edition of 195 priced at £ 45 (approximately $ 61.50) and an art print in an edition of £ 175 priced at £ 50 (approximately $ 68.40) ) available. Both prints are 24 × 36 inches. Smaller art prints of Greg’s original paintings will also be available.
