Polo G was arrested in Miami this morning (June 12), the Miami Herald reports and Pitchfork can confirm based on Miami-Dade County’s records. The Chicago artist has been charged on several counts, including charging a police officer, threatening an officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. According to prison records, the rapper put on a $ 19,500 bond.

Last night, Polo G’s mom and manager Stacia Mac went to Instagram to address the party for Polo G’s new album Hall of Fame. Stasia Mac said her older son told her that several police cars were chasing her. “You stopped her because you drove during Black,” she said.

Stasia Mac also tweeted: “None of these charges would be possible if the POLICE did not contact my son Polo G !!! He was NOT the driver. He was a PASSENGER in a professionally registered vehicle with security service. He moved wisely and correctly. What more could he have done? “

The Miami Police Department tweeted this morning that it is “aware of the incident involving Mr. Taurus Bartlett, aka Polo G, and another male youth.”

Pitchfork reached out to representatives from Polo G and the Miami-Dade Police Department for comments and additional information.
