Joe Carnahans Copshop hits theaters today. In the action film, Gerard Butler, Alexis Louder and Frank Grillo can be seen.

“The cunning con man Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) races through the Nevada desert in a bullet-riddled Crown Vic and forges a desperate plan to hide from the deadly killer Bob Viddick (Gerard Butler): he beats the rookie officer Valerie Young (Alexis Lauter) to be arrested and locked up in a small town police station, ”the official summary says. “The prison can’t protect Murretto for long and Viddick is planning his own way into detention, waiting for his time in a nearby cell to complete his mission. When the arrival of a competing assassin (Toby Huss) causes total chaos, growing threats force Viddick to get creative if he wants to quit the job and escape the explosive situation. “

ComingSoon editor-in-chief Tyler Treese spoke with Copshop Stars Gerard Butler and Alexis Louder talk about the action film, its characters and working with former UFC star Keith Jardine.

Tyler Treese: Gerard, that was a really interesting role because you’re handcuffed in a cell most of the time, but you’re always sort of manipulating what’s going on and you’re in control. What did you find really interesting about this character of Bob Viddick and the situation he is in?

Gerard Butler: Well, I think you just answered my question [laughs]. I love his elaborate plans. He has a reputation to keep up with. The bigger the challenge, the more fun [it is] that he had to try to track down this Teddy Murretto. He’s at a police station so he has to come up with a plan to get in there. When he’s in, he has to come up with a plan for how he can actually get hold of him, and if things don’t go exactly according to plan, he sits there and does the math.

As you say, manipulating what your next step will be, to deal with it and get out of there before things get out of hand, that’s so much fun to play around having all this internal dialogue. And having to do it from the same place. As if I was sitting in mine for most of this movie, handcuffed to a railing. So in some ways you call it frustrating, and in other ways I think at least I don’t break every bone in my body like in my Has Fallen films [laughs]. I’ll just sit here and think shit.

Alexis, this is one of your first leading roles and you are so great. You can hold your own with Gerard and Frank Grillo. How rewarding was this experience?

Alexis Lauter: It was extremely rewarding to work with these giants, with Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo and Joe Carnahan. This is a phenomenal combination that no one has seen before because they have never worked together but have known each other for a long time. I honestly feel they got us through, but the fact that I can work with all three of them in a movie is great and they treated me like their own and we had great chemistry and worked well together in this cat and mouse that was going on.

Gerard, former UFC star Keith Jardine, plays a state trooper in it. He ends up arresting you. How was working with him?

servant: Well, it’s actually the second time I’ve worked with him. I have a movie called. turned playerwhen he was in the middle of his UFC career and I think it was his first film. I have to say I love this man. He is smart. He’s such a gentle giant. He’s such a decent person and it was just great to see him again. I have a great affection for Keith and he’s a good actor too. Yes. He’s a really good actor, just subtle.

volume up: He’s funny too.

servant: Total. He’s funny and he’s believable. It was one of my favorite parts of making this movie, seeing Keith again.

Alexis, there are so many great action scenes in the film. You can take part in some shootings. What was your favorite scene to film?

volume up: Because I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll say my favorite non-movie action part is jumping over a banister in front of Toby Huss. That was a lot of fun. I’ve done it three or four times [laughs].

servant: Talk about something that is in the movie.

volume up: Make me.

servant: I did this amazing thing that no one will see. It’s not in the movie.

volume up: I’m trying to get them to include it in the deleted scenes. That’s what I do.

The Shawshank Redemption remains one of the greatest films of all time. Everyone knows that. There isn’t much more to say about Frank Darabont’s amazing 1994 masterpiece that hasn’t already been said. Everything about the film, namely the well thought-out script (adapted from Stephen King’s short story), wonderful performances, solid direction and the beautiful Thomas Newman score, combine to create a monumental cinematic performance that does not have to show any signs of wear and tear.

RELATED: Penguin Series in Development at HBO Max

i have obsessed Shawshank in a variety of formats dating back to the VHS copy released after the movie’s mediocre theatrical run, followed by the boring single-disc DVD release which (from memory) included the film and a box office trailer, and the 2004 special two-disc edition that contained commentary by Darabont, some documentaries, some interviews, trailers and a curious parody entitled “The Sharktank Redemption” starring Morgan Freeman’s son.

In all fairness, the main draw for me about the 2004 special was the beautiful cover design by Drew Struzan. Everything else was pretty rudimentary. The specifics were surprisingly boring for such a great film – but what do you really expect from a production that is entirely set in a prison? – and Darabont’s commentary is revealing, but not particularly compelling for the listener. The picture and sound were on par for most DVDs of the time, and the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack was clear and concise.

The Shawshank Redemption 4K special features

Commentary by Frank Darabont

“Hope Springs Eternal: A Look Back at the Shawshank Redemption”

“Shawshank: The Redemptive Feature”

“The SharkTank Redemption”

Stills galleries

“Bogs Takes a Fall” storyboards

“New fish are coming” storyboards

Let’s get the disappointing part out of the way Shawshank comes to 4K and includes the same features as the 2004 release – yawn – and a boring cover design that eschews Struzan’s artwork in favor of a still from the movie.

Still, the new 4K broadcast offers fans the greatest presentation of Darabont’s masterpiece. Roger Deakins’ atmospheric cinematography really comes through this time around, while details, mostly background elements, pop like never before.

MORE: Olivia Wilde debuts Don’t Worry Darling Teaser with Florence Pugh

Since Shawshank With a lack of explosions or action sequences, it’s hard to tell if the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix is better than its DVD counterpart. I mean, the flick sounds great, and die-hard audiophiles will likely notice the subtle changes in this new iteration, while your average moviegoer won’t process the newer sound elements despite the job well done.

So, this is the new version of The Shawshank Redemption worth buying? Absolutely! Although there is no new bonus material, the 4K broadcast more than justifies the purchase. The movie looks gorgeous which only adds to its overall quality. Really, I shouldn’t have to convince you to buy The Shawshank Redemption. It’s close to perfect and worth having in the best possible format.

GAME BOARD: 10/10

As the evaluation guideline of ComingSoon explains, a score of 10 corresponds to “masterpiece”. This is the rare release that transcends genre and must be experienced by all fans of the medium.

Disclosure: The publisher has a 4K copy for ours The Shawshank Redemption 4K review.

Comedy drama from Vertical Entertainment Repair of small engines, which is based on the play of the same name, is now coming to theaters. The leading roles are played by Jon Bernthal, John Pollono and Shea Whigham.

“Frankie (John Pollono), Swaino (Jon Bernthal) and Packie (Shea Whigham) are lifelong friends who share a love for the Red Sox, noisy bars and Frankie’s teenage daughter Crystal (Ciara Bravo). But when Frankie takes his pals over for a whiskey-laden evening and asks them to do the saucy young woman they all love a favor, things spiral out of control. Based on Pollono’s award-winning play, Small Engine Repair is a pitch black comedic drama with a wicked twist and a powerful exploration of brotherhood, class struggle, and modern masculinity.

ComingSoon editor-in-chief Tyler Treese spoke with Repair of small engines Stars Jon Bernthal, John Pollono and Shea Whigham on the film adaptation of the successful piece.

Tyler Treese: First off, Jon Bernthal, I’d like to ask you about the timing of this movie and bring this character back to life after so many years. Since then you’ve been a father for so many years, has that really shaped this role and how was it for you to return to this character?

Jon Bernthal: Wow man. See, being a father, I think it kind of informs everything. The interesting thing is when I met John right after I got married and I think my wife was pregnant with our first son when we did the play. John came into my life and I knew immediately that he was very special. I read this play, read his work, and just knew he was one of the best American playwrights of all time. It just wasn’t a question. No question for me. No wonder that he has now become one of the most sought-after and sought-after authors in Hollywood.

What we achieved with this piece was something very special. There are no words for it. On those nights when LA was impossible to get in, it was this humble little 40-seat show. It was so electric, it was so dangerous and yet all kinds of people were there. You had cops, you had fighters, you had theatergoers, all of these people came together to really just have this amazing roller coaster ride of a show. It has always been our dream to turn it into a film. John did it and he did it in a really nice way. I think he opened it perfectly and captured what was so electrifying and dangerous about the piece and so human about the piece. He just emphasizes, I think, with the movie and with the addition of Shea and how that just changes everything. I think we just feel tremendously blessed for all the growth we’ve had in our lives since then, our families, and the growth in that way and for this movie.

John Pollono, who took this from a play to a movie, were there any challenges for certain scenes? Feel like some things work better for the movie than the play itself? Tell me about it.

Johannes Pollono: Yes. The film expands the world a lot. It opens it. There weren’t any female characters in the play and they steal every scene they are in the movie and have that presence. The film is more grounded, deeper, in some ways more dangerous, more provocative. I mean, late-night theatergoers are particularly provoked in the theater. You want to have a conversation. You want to be shocked. You want to be stirred up. You want to feel something. In movies it’s more of an entertainment medium so you bypass that line and how far what are the expectations. It’s harder to shock a movie audience, and all of that had to be taken into account. Total. I think the story got more grounded and darker and certainly deeper in translation.

Then Shea, was I really curious about what drew you to this movie and what about the role of Packie really made you want to immerse yourself in this character?

Shea Whigham: Well, working with these two guys was the first. I think I’ll take the challenge because it was a piece that was played so often and I wanted to see if I could. You are always looking for something. I was looking for something like that back then. Jon Bernthal was approaching, Jon and I had done Wolf of Wall Street. We didn’t cross, but we knew each other and I knew Pollono’s work. So I took the chance. I mean, it was difficult, but so rewarding in the end that it worked out so nicely.

Then for Jon Bernthal, I love that you use your own dogs for both the original play and the film. It just shows how personal this is to you. Can you talk about finally getting to the end of this project and finally getting it out?

Bernthal: Oh, man, look, this thing has so much heart. If you know John, if you know Shea, you know it is us [passionate] People. All of our families were involved in this. Families were on the set. The kids in that thing were family. People have played the roles in plays and various productions, all of them have roles in the film. Yes, my boss, my best dog I’ve ever had, he was with every rehearsal of this piece. He was backstage every night. We had an idea he was the old dog on the piece. Back then, my puppy was playing Bam Bam in flashbacks. There was so much heart here, and I believe that if you lead with your heart, you can’t really fail. John, if anything, is all heart.

WarnerMedia Kids & Family have announced the cast for the upcoming Warner Bros. animated series Impact wheels. Ethan Hawke (Good Mr. Vogel) as Batman and Jacob Bertrand (Cobra Kai) when Bam the Batmobile leads the cast for the preschool animation action adventure comedy series featuring the most heroic and iconic vehicles from the DC Universe.

RELATED: Aquaman: King of Atlantis Trailer Teases HBO Max Miniseries from James Wan

The announcement was made by Bertrand and other cast members during a special virtual event celebrating the launch of Cartoonito, WarnerMedia Kids & Family’s new preschool programming block available on HBO Max and Cartoon Network. He was also starred by Batwheels actor AJ Hudson (The good place), which expresses the character of Duke Thomas, the first black character to wear the Robin “R” on the pages of DC Comics. Impact wheels represents the first representation of the character on the screen.

The main characters and voice cast include:

The Batwheels team

Jakob Bertrand (Cobra Kai) as Bam – The Batmobile and leader of the Batwheels team. Like his hero Batman, Bam has a keen sense of justice and tries his best to lead the team, even if he’s not always sure he’s up to the task. Ultimately, the rest of the Batwheels know they can count on him, both as a great teammate and friend.

Jordan Reed (Chuggington) as Redbird – Robin’s snappy sports car. “Red” is the team’s little brother who always strives to prove himself to be a worthy buddy for Bam, but he can definitely hold his own on a mission. He’s enthusiastic and extremely curious and asks tons of questions like a child detective.

Madigan Kacmar (Chuggington) as Bibi – Batgirl’s brave and courageous motorcycle. She’s the fastest of the Batwheels, but also the smallest, so she sometimes has a habit of being impulsive and jumping straight into the action with no plan.

Noah Bentley (Elliott from Earth) as a Buff – This bat-style monster truck is the team’s muscle and can ram or run over any obstacle in its path, but it’s also the heart of the team – a gentle giant who doesn’t really know its own strength.

Lilimar (Cleopatra in space) as Batwing – Batman’s supersonic jet aircraft, “Wing” is by far the most demanding and self-confident member of the team.

Kimberly D. Brooks (DC Super Hero Girls) as The Batcomputer – she is the supervisor, dispatcher and trainer of the team – but above all she is also her mother figure. Not only does she need to train and advise them, but also to be there to comfort them and even hold their mechanical hands when necessary.

Mick Wingert (What if?) as Moe – Batman’s robot mechanic who facilitates repairs and maintenance of his vehicle fleet. He’s a well-equipped, highly efficient mechanic who can fix almost any vehicle fault, but not without a healthy dose of sarcasm.

The bat family

Ethan Hawke (Good Mr. Vogel) as Batman – Gotham City’s greatest protector, protecting the streets from all threats. Although Batman does not communicate directly with the Batwheels, he acts as a father figure. They desperately seek his approval and trust as they fight by his side. Ethane

AJ Hudson (The good place) as Duke Thomas / Robin – The Boy Wonder who loves to immerse himself in a great detective puzzle while trying to prove himself alongside Batman.

Lea Lewis (Nancy Drew) as Cassandra Cain / Batgirl – The first Asian-American Batgirl as first featured in the comics. In Batwheels, Cassandra is the “big sister”, tech-savvy daredevil of the Bat family. She loves speeding through the streets of Gotham City on her motorcycle and always wants to be right in the middle of the action.

Additional actors and characters will be announced at a later date.

The official summary reads: “You are a team of incredible crime fighters who have come together to fight evil, fight crime and clean up the streets of Gotham City. They are … okay, they are NOT Batman and Robin. They are the Batwheels – a great group of sentient super-crime-fighting vehicles that are defending Gotham City along with Batman, Robin, Batgirl and a host of DC superheroes.

“Our heroes were just created by the Batcomputer and are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Redbird (Robins Sports Car), The Batwing and Buff (The Bat Truck) – have to cope with the growing pains of a newly formed super team and the growing pains that come with it. to be a child. This relatable and ambitious series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they inspire and entertain with their heroic adventures and demonstrate to children the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork. “

PEN15 Star Dallas Liu’s career continues to grow. Not only was he recently featured in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender but he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Shang-Chi.

ComingSoon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese spoke to Dallas Liu about participating in a Marvel Studios movie, working with Awkwafina and his upcoming roles.

Tyler Treese: It’s an exciting time in your career. You have done so many great shows like PEN15. Now you have Shang-Chi and you are joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How exciting is it to just join in? It’s the biggest in movies and on TV right now.

Dallas Liu: I’m still trying to like, I guess, suck it all up because it all goes pretty quickly. I mean, in my acting career, not so many things happened at once. So, I mean, luckily I have a great support system with my friends and family to keep me going, but yeah, I’m still in shock. I’m still trying to soak it up. I mean, obviously I’m enjoying it and, sorry, wait … I’m still trying to soak up whatever happens, but yeah.

So, for those who haven’t seen Shang-Chi, who are you playing against?

My character in the MCU, I play Awkwafina’s younger brother. That’s all I can really tell you because that’s all I really know. I actually have no idea what this whole story is about because Marvel hadn’t even sent me the full script yet. I only have my scenes and that’s all I really had to work with.

How was the collaboration with Awkwafina? She is so funny and so talented.

Working with Awkwafina was probably one of the most influential experiences I’ve had in the industry. I was also allowed to spend time with her and she has given me a lot of good advice, personally and for my career. So, she’s someone I admire a lot and she’s just a great person. I mean, even on set, she’s such a hard worker and she pays attention to the details and things like that. So all in all, just a great person.

This film is a great portrayal of Asian representation. From a personal point of view, what does it mean for you to be involved in this project?

I mean, I think it’s just an honor to be part of the first true Asian superhero that Marvel is contributing to. I am grateful to have such a supportive family and to be in this industry. You know, I have a feeling that in Asian cultures it doesn’t really matter to go the riskier path in life, you know? So I’m happy to be able to represent my community in this industry.

Yeah, and it really speaks to how far the representation is, that we’ve got Asian superheroes because we’ve had great martial arts movies, Jackie Chan doing comedies and so on. But before that it was Long Duk Dong in Sixteen Candles and very offensive roles. It just got so far that you could act as any character in any film and it makes a lot of sense and you are no longer typed. This must be as refreshing for a young actor like you.

Yes. And there are definitely a lot more options that open up even for regular roles, not even like something in particular. Just a lot of the roles I started auditioning for are just very open ethnicity most of the time, you know? So it’s good to see that with all of the different media platforms putting out new shows and movies, content is constantly being produced. It’s almost open to everyone now.

I read that Power Rangers inspired you to learn martial arts. I need to know who your favorite ranger was?

I was in a big mood SPD, and I would probably say a Blue Ranger. Blue ranger in SPD I have to look back on some of them. I liked to dress up in costumes and knew fights. That kind of inspired me to do martial arts, which is really fun, but yeah, I loved falling asleep with them, holding them in my hands, had a whole collection and everything.

I know martial arts put you in one of your first roles as Jin Kazama in the Tekken movie. You were so young, do you remember that experience? And Tekken is still a very popular fighting game. Are you a big gamer or did you play the Tekken games?

When I was younger, I used to play it on Xbox 360 with my brother. I actually didn’t use Jin Kazama that much when I was playing the game. Surprisingly, I was really into the panda.

But this experience for me gave me an insight into a possible future career, because at the time I was just strong in martial arts, constantly training every day, going to tournaments every weekend and the like. So, I mean when I got older it was acting, and that entertainment industry was something I was researching because of a martial artist that was in it.

Do you still practice martial arts?

I try to keep up. I don’t train competitively, I would say. I think martial arts is a great way to keep your mind and body in tip-top shape.

We just had this huge Avatar casting news that is so exciting. You play Zuko, the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, such an iconic character. How exciting is it for you to get this role?

I was tearing up when I found out I got Zuko. I mean, of course, I’m a fan of the show too. It’s a great honor to be able to play him. I mean, he’s by far my favorite character on the show, and I think he’s just a lot of people’s darling. So, I’m really excited to take on that.

And Avatar is such a crucial show in that it’s kind of anime-style, but it was a western production and it was kind of like a wake-up call. There was a stigma with anime from western studios, and that kind of thing said, “Hey, this can be huge, this can be a huge series.” Are you a fan of anime?

Oh i love anime. I love anime. There was a point where I couldn’t even watch TV. It was like trying to get through like all fountain pens and just like getting through like One piece or what Naruto Fillers.

Oh i feel you there I’m a fan of Detective Conan and it has over a thousand episodes, far too many. You mentioned One Piece. What are some of your favorite anime?

So Naruto is like what really got me into anime. My favorite character of these is probably Itachi. But I watch Hunter X Hunter, Jujutsu Kaisen is amazing, i love this show. Let’s see, Tokyo Ghoul is like, uh, it’s fine. I mean dude I’d have to pull up a list cause I can’t picture it in my head, but how Haikyuu, Demon Hunter of course … yeah i mean i love anime so much.

That’s great. PEN15 was so hilarious and Shuji is such a cool character. You’re the cool brother, you know, your quote, don’t quote a lot, sister is a little embarrassing to you. How fun it is to play Anna and Maya, I mean they are so hilarious.

Yes. I mean, every shot we do on set somehow ends with a little improvisation or we just keep going on the scene just to see if we can make something of it. And I mean, I enjoyed being on set so much. It’s such a relaxed and comfortable environment, um, to be with them.

I heard that last season was pretty wild. They had the forest fires that changed locations everywhere. How was the experience shooting this?

Extremely unpredictable. I mean, we were in the middle of filming, um, more of PEN15, and then COVID arrived. And literally like in the middle of, uh, in the middle of filming, we were just kicked out because of COVID. So there was only a ton going on. Um, I feel this way even in some people’s personal lives, so we just take it all at once every day and be careful about every single action we take.

Are you interested in speech output?

Yes absolutely. I mean, I’m not the biggest fan of dub anime, you know I’m a big sub-person. I think this is just the way to go, but if there was the chance to play a character in an anime and they wanted me to dub the voice over, I would do it, you know? Yeah, I mean, I think there is an anime Tokyo Avenger that was like creating a lot of attraction in the manga and anime universes, so yeah.

So, let’s go. Actor Dallas. You would be great

What’s up!

My final question here, you have played so many different roles. Are there any other types of movies or shows that you would like to be in that really show off different aspects of your acting skills?

I think, specifically, I would like some, some drama. I feel like this could add a lot to my résumé just because most of the things I’ve done before are comedies. So, yeah, I want to be rounded as much as possible. I mean, I’m still at the very beginning of my career, so I really take advantage of every opportunity I have to show what I’m capable of.
