Diversity reports that a You-ra Live-action series is in early development on Amazon Prime Video, with the project reportedly focusing on a new, standalone story unrelated to the animated series.

DreamWorks Animation, which Netflix produced She-Ra and the Princesses of PowerHe will run the series, which is currently in “very early stages”.

If the series is recorded, it would be the first live-action adaptation of the character She-Ra, who first debuted in the 1985 cartoon He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword As part of the Master of the Universe Franchise.

She-Ra’s first spin-off, She-Ra: Princess of Power, ran for two seasons between 1985 and 1986. The series followed Princess Adora (voiced by Melendy Britt), who “raises her magical sword and becomes She-Ra, the most powerful woman in the universe, to help her friends defeat the evil horde so that their planet Etheria can be free”, it says in the official summary.

Netflix’s reboot of the series premiered in November 2018 and completed in May 2020. The five-season series developed by Noelle Stevenson is now available for streaming and includes the voices of Aimee Carrero, AJ Michalka, Karen Fukuhara, Marcus Scribner, Reshma Shetty, Lorraine Toussaint, Lauren Ash, Christine Woods, Genesis Rodriguez, Vella Lovell , Jordan Fisher, Merit Leighton, Keston John, and Daniel Dae Kim. In 2021, the show won the GLAAD media award for outstanding children’s and family programs.
